
Protesters in Vietnam have been violently storming Chinese factories and other institutions to object against China's oil drilling practices near the Paracel Islands. This is a chain of islands which is formally in control of the People's Republic, but also claimed by Vietnam and Taiwan. The complicated situation has led to protesters ransacking fabs which make shoes for Nike, Adidas, and Walmart. It is said that at least 21 people have died in the violent protests.
