Windows Phone 8.1 about to get its first update

Windows Phone 8.1 may have just started rolling out about a week ago, yet Microsoft is already planning its first patch, and no – it's not a hotfix. In typical Microsoft fashion, it's going to be called GDR 1 (General Distribution Release 1) and is going to bring a few nifty little features for both users and OEMs.



First of all, it seems like WP 8.1 will be able to support smart cases, however it is yet unknown whether Microsoft intends to manufacture its own case, or if it will be left as an option for third parties and OEMs to tinker with. We can also expect support for 1280 x 800 WXGA ...
