Sony launches crazy Underwater Apps for select Xperia phones

Sony was the first important smartphone manufacturer to release a water-resistant flagship handset - the Xperia Z from early 2013 - and now it’s also the first to launch... Underwater Apps (that’s their official name).



At the moment, these applications are available only for the Xperia Z1s and Xperia Z, and only in the US. They make use of the two handsets’ resistance to water, and of the fact that the smartphones literally know when they're underwater. How can they do that?
