Apple iPad Air 2 to have the fast A8X processor under the hood


Apple has confirmed that the SoC powering the super-thin iPad Air 2 is going to be the rumored A8X chip. It's still a 64-bit architecture and it is the home of 3 billion transistors that do the calculations under the hood. Apple claims that the graphic performance of the new iPad Air 2 will be 2 and 1/2 times faster than last year's iPad Air. And, of course, it supports Apple's Metal API that was first talked about at the iPhone 6 event and is said to enable "console-level graphics" on Cupertino's latest mobile devices.
