
Some iOS developers felt that Apple was bending its own rules on Monday, by using push notification to promote the (RED) campaign of the Apple App Store. Apple's own developer guidelines don't allow push notification to be used for commercials or promotions of any kind. Still, Apple might have felt that because the promotion was for a good cause, it could get away with using push notification just this once.
